Cartes de visite were popular in France during the 1850’s and 1860’s. There small size made them popular for easy trade and delivery. In a queer historical context, these cards symbolized a way of communication of desire that allowed men to share and experience their suppressed sexuality privately.

Note: To keep the tradition of the trade, I urge the buyers to keep the cards, experience them for their aesthetic and sensual beauties, and trade them off to another individual. I would love to receive a short letter of experience from each buyer, if possible.
